John Leguizamo: Latin History for Morons

BERKELEY REPERTORY THEATRE - Special Presentation · Peet’s Theatre

July 1 - August 14, 2016 - Tickets on sale NOW!

John Leguizamo’s up close and personal solo shows about growing up in Queens and climbing to the top of the Hollywood ladder have earned him scores of fans and accolades – and Emmy and Obie Awards. In Latin History for Morons, the outrageous, multifaceted performer attempts to teach his son (and the rest of us) about the marginalization of Latinos in U.S. history and the vital roles they played in building this country. From a satirical recap of Aztec and Incan history to stories of Latin patriots in the Revolutionary and Civil War and beyond, Leguizamo breaks down 3,000 years into 90 irreverent and uncensored minutes in his trademark comedic style. History was never so mind-blowing…or hysterical!

(A PAGE-TO-STAGE WORKSHOP PRODUCTION) Class is in session with John Leguizamo’s new one-man show, Latin History for Morons. John delivers rapid-fire laughs in his biting and comic take on 500 years of Latin History, spanning the Aztec and Incan Empires to World War II. Tackling the contributions of Latin people left out of the history books, John is the most uproariously real teacher you’ve ever had. Returning to the Playhouse with this new workshop, John shares his hilarious and satirical version of an often overlooked part of history.
